There are a lot of people who think that when you smoke weed, you’re just going to be a lazy stoner. It’s time to dispel those rumors and look at the truth behind weed when you work out.
Faster than You Think
It’s important to look at people who use it. According to a study, it was discovered that the people who used marijuana prior to and after they exercised got more exercise aerobically than the people that did not. There was a professor that studied this, mentioning that the common stereotype of the lazy stoner is something that’s actually not true, since the data suggest otherwise.
You shouldn’t overly use this yet, and it’s not recommended all the time due to the fact that there is very little exercise, but there isn’t anything that says that it’s harmful. It also was found that it helped with boosting physical activity, and it helped provide better motivation. A lot of people don’t eat enough, and they don’t have the motivation, sometimes leading to bad recovery. While obesity is a major problem, being over the normal weight, and living a lifestyle that’s sedentary does contribute to a lot of this.
Are the Users of Cannabis Leaner
There is also another type of stereotype that actually comes with this. People that consume cannabis are a bit lazier, but they also tend to be bigger too.
This is actually not true, in fact, it may just be the opposite case in a lot of instances.
There was a study that actually found that those who used cannabis daily tended to be leaner than the people that didn’t, and some were over 3% leaner than the others.
It could be a great thing, especially with the ongoing obesity that’s going around.
Cannabis, and Runner’s High
Another thing that sometimes people experience is a runner’s high.
This is something discussed by people in the science world, and supposedly, this is created by the release of endorphins. It actually, however, was discovered through another article that it was due to endocannabinoids, rather than the mere release of endorphins within the body.
This is fascinating, because these endocannabinoids exist within the body. we naturally make them, but we actually don’t realize it since it’s rarely talked about.
In this study, the authors discovered that the endorphins did not create a major change in the body. when you run however, endocannabinoids get released, and it was found that these endocannabinoids are partially responsible for that.
It also was found that the euphoria and the endurance that people do experience comes from cannabinoids. It also was found as well that another chemical by the name of anandamide also helps with the euphoria that you feel. It’s a word that means joy and bliss, so it’ll boost the mood, offering effects that are calm, and overall better responses for your needs.
CBD also creates this. While it doesn't directly stimulate the receptors, it can boost the production of anandamide, another molecule associated with this. Through that, CBD can help to contribute to the overall runner’s high that you experience.
With all of these things said, it’s actually quite the opposite from the lazy stoner. Many cannabis users tend to be on the fitter side, and also are more healthy than the misnomers say.
While it is possible that some weed strains may make you tempted to go over and pig out on the couch for hours, not every strain does this. In fact, a lot of them can help with this. For many people, cannabis can create some lasting effects.
