How to Decide the Strains to Try

Deciding the strains or cultivars to consume is a challenge. The best thing is to try to decide what works for you. But here are the essentials to trying a cannabis strain, and to help figure out the place to begin.

First, a Bit About Strains

When choosing the right strain, you need the basic information first. Did you know that there are four different types? The first is sativa, which is the one that makes you energized when you administer or inhale this. It usually has slender, taller stature to it, and usually the flowers are more widespread. They tend to have high amounts of THC, and other terpenes that are there too. However, there are few differences when choosing sativa or indicas, because these days, most are hybrids, so something that’s a sativa does have the same profile as indicas, and usually have better effects.

Indica strains are those that are much more relaxing, have a lot more THC to them, and usually are shorter, bushier plants. They tend to also contain limonene and linalool along with myrcene. They tend to make you feel the couch lock, which is where you’re basically glued to the sea that you’re on.

Usually, there isn’t always a difference, and usually they may be sedating, but some of them that don’t have myrcene will not bas sedating.

Hybrids usually are a mix, or mostly one or the other.  Some of them have a dominance to this, and they vary in the way that you feel. You’re not going to know the experience until you actually use this though.

Ruderalis is one that has almost no THC to it, but a ton of CBD in this, which is why it may not make you high, but is great for inflammation and other concerns.

The Ratios

Another part of this, the ratios of THC to CBD depending on the strain. Remember, THC is the part that’ll make it psychoactive. So if something is high in this ratio, it’s going to be unlikely it’ll get you high. More THC than CBD is going to make you feel something. If it’s got more CBD than THC, it’s unlikely you’re going to feel much. The 1:1 ratio is the best kind of thing, as it offers the best effects that are tolerable, especially if you’re not sure how you’re going to react to the psychoactivity of the THC

Know the Effects

It’s important to also look at the effects you get. For those who are using this to sleep better, items high in myrcene and other relaxing elements including humulene and linalool will be good. You can also find strains that contain apigenin, which is a flavonoid that’s great for relaxing the body. If you’re looking to get that burst in energy, you want to find something that's higher in terpinolene for this, or something that contains THCV, pinene, and beta-caryophyllene to help with this.

Want to experience those that have more psychoactive effects? Then you want something that’s higher in THC. If you’re looking to mitigate those effects, get something that's mostly CBD.

The best thing to do is to find something that best fits the needs that you have. If you know that you’re anxious, try to get something that's more dominant in CBD. If you’re someone who does deal with neuropathy and chronic pain, then THC is going to aid you with this sort of thing.

Regardless, there is a strain out there for everyone, and there is a lot of benefit to be had with this, so always make sure that you take the time to look at them.
