Growing Cannabis Inside

If you’re interested in growing indoors, you’re not alone. There are a lot of great ways to do it, and it’s easier than ever. Here’s what you need to do to grow it inside.

The benefits

While it’s a bit higher in cost to set up, you control the plants, and you determine the exact light, water, and the nutrients that they have, and you don’t have to worry about pests being a problem.

It’s also not tied to the weather patterns or the seasons, so if you want to just grow stuff inside during the winter, you’re free to, so long as you’ve got everything that you need to do this. You can actually harvest this plenty of times. You’re also given the benefit of privacy.  Even if you’re in a state where it’s legal, it keeps those nosey neighbors and thieves from coming inside.

How to Set this up

You can set this up in spare rooms, basements, even garages. A small cupboard that’s sealed so you can’t put light in there also works.  You need to make sure it’s a place where you can hide it from the light too, since this creates hermaphrodite plants, which will ruin your harvest.

You want to start it with a small room of around 3x3 feet, which is enough to hold up to 9 plants. You need a light to cover all of this, and you need to make sure that you know the growth patterns before you start to grow more of these.

The items Necessary

To grow inside, you need to have certain items, since you’re going to basically control the weather and adjust everything that they need.

Below are the items necessary:

  • A grow tent, which is black on the outer part to prevent light, and also has refractive material so that your lights offer the best performance

  • A light of various wattages

  • A platform for the plants

  • Pots of different sizes

  • Extractor fan to get rid of hot air

  • The intake fan to get new light in there

  • The carbon filters that are put on the fan to reduce your cannabis smell

  • A thermometer to ensure the room is anywhere from 79 to 83 degrees

  • A hygrometer that looks at the humidity

  • A timer for tuning the lights on and off, and also used for any watering system you wish to use

For the light, you want to make sure that you have something up to 125 watts to begin with, and then, after 6 weeks of vegetation, you want a very high-powered light of over 250 watts to ensure that they are powering and getting those plants to flower.

You should also consider different bulbs with glasses. Metal halide is the best for vegetative cannabis plants, and then once they flower, put some sodium lights in there, as they offer more light, the fluorescent ones are also good for seedling plants, and also for plants that are propagating.

LEDs are also good too.

The fan placement

If you’re going to grow inside, always make sure that you’ve got the fan in there, as this is something that’s used to air out the grow room, so that the air doesn’t become stagnated through this. Air circulation is vital, because it means that you give air that's new and fresh in there. you want to make sure that the fans are also getting rid of the bad air too. You may need to change this based on space.
